This is how it works.
Mounted directly into the ductwork of heating/cooling system, the Amana Electronic Air Cleaner captures particles as small as .01 micron (bacteria, viruses) present in the return air drawn from your home. First, an aluminum-mesh pre-filter captures large particles (hair, lint).
